Delsea Dominates Early, Holds Off Brick Memorial for 45-30 Victory

Delsea stormed out to a commanding lead and held off a late charge from Brick Memorial to secure a 45-30 win in the NJSIAA state tournament. The Crusaders won eight of the first nine bouts, using a mix of pins and dominant decisions to build an insurmountable advantage.

The dual started at 126 pounds, where Greyson Pettit set the tone with a 24-6 technical fall. Gage Summers (132) and Zavier Stokes (138) followed with back-to-back pins, giving Delsea an early 17-0 lead. Cameron Pote added to the momentum at 144, earning a major decision, before Jamar Dixon (150) and Riley Boos (157) picked up first-period pins to push the lead to 33-0.

Brick Memorial finally got on the board at 165, as Malachi Saint-Vil secured a hard-fought 12-9 decision. However, Delsea quickly answered at 175, with Joel Anderson pinning Garrett Scott in 1:41 to extend the lead to 39-3.

Brick Memorial refused to go down without a fight, rallying with four straight victories. Trey Tallmadge (190) pinned Greg Sawyer in 1:16, Harvey Ludington (215) won by forfeit, and Ben Szuba (285) delivered a 10-6 decision over Salvatore Marchese. Joseph Fornoro (106) continued the run with a second-period pin, and a forfeit win at 113 brought Brick Memorial within striking distance at 39-30.

But Delsea slammed the door at 120, where Amari Vann sealed the victory with a clutch pin in 2:33, capping off a dominant team performance.
