Christian Brothers Academy Rallies for Thrilling 30-29 Victory Over St. John Vianney

Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) completed an impressive comeback, defeating St. John Vianney (SJV) 30-29 in a thrilling match that came down to the final bouts. Despite trailing by 20 points midway through, CBA finished strong, taking the lead in the last four matches to secure the win.

The match began with St. John Vianney dominating, winning the first four contests and building a commanding 23-9 lead. Rocco Dellagatta (285) got things started with a forfeit win, and Julian Zargo (106) followed up with a dominant 17-4 major decision over Kellen Duffy (CB). Anthony Knox (126) added another major decision, 10-2, and Patrick O'Keefe (132) scored a 3-1 decision, keeping the momentum on St. John Vianney’s side.

CBA responded with victories at 113 and 120, as Sean Kenny (CB) defeated Riley Correal (SJV) 14-9, and Cael Dutton (CB) pinned Ryan Kearney (SJV) in 4:25, bringing the score to 10-9 in favor of St. John Vianney.

But St. John Vianney responded with wins from Abraham Adu-Amoako (138), Jake Zaltsman (144), and Dezmond Lenaghan (150), who all earned decisions, putting SJV up 26-9.

In the final stretch, CBA came alive. Christian King (165) pinned Greg Jhanjee (SJV) in 4:30, and AJ Falcone (175) followed with a 10-3 decision over John Saraiva (SJV), cutting the deficit to 29-18.

With just a few matches remaining, Brock Oizerowitz (190) pinned Michael Scagnelli (SJV) in 0:55, and Tyler Palumbo (215) secured the win for CBA with a 3:45 pin over Thomas Foley (SJV).

Christian Brothers Academy’s incredible comeback culminated in a 30-29 victory, securing the win with the final pinfalls.
